About the Edition

HENSEL SONGS ONLINE was created to collect together the performance materials for the female composer Fanny Hensel’s complete song repertoire - representing an exciting resource for performers and those interested in her music. HENSEL SONGS ONLINE includes roughly 100 previously unpublished songs and the digital interface links its users to sheet music, texts and translations and autograph sources.

How the edition works

The edition contents are chronologically listed in accordance with the estimated dates of composition -each song also has a unique H-U number [devised by Renate Hellwig-Unruh]. Each listing includes the song’s catalogue number, poet, date of composition, available keys (original keys are marked with a *) and links to the original autograph sources used in preparing the edition.
